Reverend Sister Patti Hale, OPA

Rev. Sr. Patti Hale began her ministry as Priest-in-Charge at Emmanuel Parish in mid-January of 2020. She and her husband Doug moved to the community from Eugene where she was Rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church since 2011.  In March of 2021, Rev. Patti Hale became the Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church by unanimous vote of the Vestry and with the blessing of The Rt. Rev. Diana Akiyama, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon.

Rev. Patti is a Life Professed member of a Religious Order in the Episcopal Church called the Anglican Order of Preachers, more commonly known as "Dominicans". The Order shares the same charism of excellence in preaching and teaching as the Order of Preachers formed in 1221 by St. Dominic de Guzman.

Rev. Patti and her husband were both ordained in the Episcopal Church in 2002 after having been previously ordained in the United Methodist Church. She holds a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from the Aquinas Institute of Theology.

She has a quirky sense of humor, loves to study, listen to music, watch Star Trek, talk theology, drink Pinot Noir and contemplate the goodness of the Lord.

Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Be well and at peace, Patti+

What is the Vestry?  The vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property. The number of vestry members and the term of office varies from parish to parish. Vestry members are usually elected at the annual parish meeting. The presiding officer of the vestry is the rector. There are usually two wardens. The senior warden leads the parish between rectors and is a support person for the rector. The junior warden often has responsibility for church property and buildings. A treasurer and a secretary or clerk may be chosen. These officers may or may not be vestry members. The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed, to select the rector, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances.
